What ault rifle should I buy?

I have been looking into getting an ault rifle since a friend in the military bought one and its a blast to shoot. I want something like an SKS or M16 that isnt too much money and somewhat reliable. Im trying to do this before Obama takes office and we lose all of our rights, but this isnt a discussion on politics, I just need something good soon and dont have the time to spend a couple months researching.
