Is the concept of eternal life an absurdity?

Could you really withstand living forever? Wouldn't the boredom eventually become so overwhelming that one would end up longing for death? Because happiness and joy ad nauseum would become unbearably dull. IMHO, life is process and development; the concept of eternal life is paradoxically anti-life, even if process and growth continued, there would be no end to it, so what would be the point? We need closure at some point.
