Does eating different flavors of beef jerkey effect your flatulence scents?

I am in an argument with my mother in law about this one. I say when i have teriyacki it definately has a different toot-taste then when i have peppered ones. the teriyacki has a ting of maple syrup i think. she says they both smell the same, but she doesnt like me much, so i cant trust her.
