Nitrous with an automanual?

I know that it is very unwise ( if not impossible) to get nitrous on an automatic car, for fear it will destroy your engine/transmission. I was wondering, what if you had an automanual and used the manual setting, would it make a difference? i know you arent actually manually shifting the gears and merely telling them when to shift, but still i dont know if it would work. any ideas? ( The car in question in an 04 acura rsx )
